On 18 August 2020, Ferrari, McLaren and Williams announced that they had signed the new Concorde agreement, while Formula 1 announced the following day that the other teams had also signed the agreement.  The new agreement, which was the first to be reached among the new Liberty Media owners, is valid for the 2021-2025 season and will come into effect on January 1, 2021. Jean Todt, FIA President: “We are delighted that Ferrari has signed the new Concorde agreement, the three-way agreement that ensures a stable future for the FIA Formula 1 World Cup. This is the highlight of motorsport, and it is of course that the most successful team that has ever been in this series, where it has always been a protagonist, should remain so in the years to come. A new trade deal to reduce financial inequalities between teams, create a level playing field and close the price performance gap is the next part of this process. Negotiations on the terms of replacing the 2013 agreement began as part of more in-depth discussions on the future of sport in 2017, but the deadline for reaching an agreement has been extended to 31 October 2019. It was reported that the agreement was about to be concluded in January 2020. However, the COVID-19 pandemic was eventually delayed .  During the weekend of the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix, Mercedes team leader Toto Wolff expressed his dissatisfaction with the terms of the new agreement, which was to introduce a budget cap from the 2021 season and change the distribution of prizes. Wolff thought his team would be hit the most negatively.  In response to this request, the deadline for signing the agreement, previously set at August 12, was extended by one week.  However, following discussions with Chase Carey, Wolff changed his attitude and agreed to sign the new agreement.  The new Concorde agreement aims to protect the value of existing teams by requiring new entrants to pay $200 million, divided equally among 10 existing teams, in exchange for the right to participate in turnover for the first year of the competition. So far, new shipments only have the prize from the second year of the competition.

The agreement published by RaceFax is not the most recent since changes were made to the Concorde agreement in 1998, when it was also extended until the end of 2007. On January 19, 2005, Ferrari announced that it had signed an extension of the previous agreement, which expires on December 31, 2012.  On 18 July 2005, Red Bull also signed an extension as well as Jordan/Midland two days later.  On December 7, 2005, Williams was the fourth team to sign an extension of the agreement.  Such a deal sweeps away speculation that some teams, like Mercedes, could not stay. However, Bond said he felt the time had come to unveil the full deal. The contractual terms remain largely confidential, although its well-known provisions required the signatory teams to show up and compete at each race and guaranteed their right to do so to assure the newly acquired public of the sport that they would have a race to watch. Perhaps most importantly, the agreement gives the BAZL the right to broadcast Formula 1 races on television – this right was “leased” to Formula One Promotions and Administration, a company founded by Bernie Ecclestone and owned by Bernie Ecclestone.
